What was your last vacation like? Did you have a blast? Did you have some entertainment? Was there some time to kick back and relax or did your last vacation consist of getting your family to and fro, with a little yard work and household chores thrown in? Was your last "vacation" essentially a "staycation"? Why not try something new this year? Next time you have a few days off, why not test one of the local adventure travels. Even if you don't want to leave your state, there are many adventures you can try out. If you have the money, why not get out on a true adventure? Here are some crowd-pleasing adventure travels.
If you like being in the great outdoors and attempting to survival skills by living off the land, why not go on an Australian Walkabout? These have increased in popularity, especially since one of the main characters on the TV show Lost tried one out. The original thought for an Australian Walkabout was for you and your fellow adventurers to get out into the Australian Outback on a guided tour. While you are on your walkabout, you live entirely off the land. You hunt for your own food, build your own shelter from what is available and take on any "elements" that might come your way (weather, animals, etc). It is similar to extreme camping and can give you a natural high.
Shark Diving isn't exactly light hearted but it is very exciting! The Shark Diver Company has diving packages that allow you to dive with the sharks in California and Mexico. You should know, though, that these types of adventure travels are very expensive. Trips like this can cost upwards of three thousand dollars per person. But most of these vacations are at least five days long. You will want to make sure that you already have your diving certification before you go. You don't want to be stuck up on the boat the whole time!
Are you a foodie? Do you tantalize the idea of learning about and taste testing cuisine from around the world? Why don't you try out a culinary tour? Obviously, Italy is one of the most attractive destinations for food lovers who want to experience cuisine in its "native habitat". Ireland, Spain and Greece also offer tasty "culinary tours." In addition to tasting the food after it's prepared, by "native" chefs, these tours also allow you to learn how to cook a variety of dishes on your own. This is the perfect adventure travel for an aspiring chef or anybody who loves food.
Not all adventure travels have to be dangerous and life threatening. You can have a fantastic adventure vacation without bungee jumping, skydiving or being scared out of your wits that a shark is going to bit through a cage. On the same line, for the adrenaline driven, that haphazard chance is only half the fun of an adventure based vacation.
The key to having a real adventurous vacation is to get out of your comfort zone while still having an enjoyable time. Get on with it!
